Town of Marshfield 250th Revolutionary War Honor Roll Committee

The Marshfield Select Board is looking for (3) individuals to serve on this Revolutionary War Committee joining other appointed members from the Marshfield Historical Commission, Marshfield Historical Society, the Veteran's Agent and a representative from the Select Board.

The deadline to submit your letter of interest will be July 21st by 4:00 PM to the Select Board's Office at Town Hall. Please include with your letter of interest a copy of your resume and a brief statement of why you would like to serve on the Revolutionary War Committee.

Please see information on the committee below.

In 1776 the original Thirteen Colonies signed the Declaration of Independence, declaring themselves independent sovereign states no longer under the rule of the British Empire. The American Revolution itself would last another seven years.

One hundred ninety-two men from Marshfield served in the Revolutionary War, but the town has yet to honor these veterans. With the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration approaching in 2026, several Marshfield citizens have proposed forming a committee to celebrate and raise funds for a new monument/Honor Roll on their behalf.

The mission of the committee will focus on documenting the service records of those who served in the war from Marshfield and reviewing locations in town for the placement of the monument/Honor Roll. The committee will work on implementing a design and oversee the construction of the monument and completion of the project prior to July of 2026. The committee will also work on Commencement plans taking place on July 4, 2026.
