Every little thing.
Kathy has been a cancer patient at Mass General for over 20 years. In accordance with the world’s new normal, masks are a must when she goes into the hospital for treatments and appointments.
EVERY LITTLE THING. BY ALYSSA QUACKENBUSH
While on the lookout for masks for her and her family, Kathy stumbled upon a post on the Marshfield Forum about Diana Scolponetti’s generous coalition of mask-makers for the repurposed little free library, “Pod’s Pod,” at the Ferry Hill Community Center.
She went by and picked some up for her family, and Kathy, geared up in her new Ferry Hill mask, began receiving compliments from Mass General employees and fellow patients. In the spirit of giving, she contacted Diana and asked for a bunch of masks to bring back to Boston with her to donate to other patients, nurses, and doctors.
Kathy has continued bringing these masks to the hospital with her and has even handed some out to friends and people with connections to other nearby hospitals.
Kathy and her family have been longtime lovers of the Ferry Hill property, formerly the YWCA Campgrounds, since her daughters, who are now 27 and 24, were children. The family has used the space for girl scouts, life guarding, and even had their Wheaten Terrier, Pumpkin, enrolled in a training program there eleven years ago when they first got her.
A resident of the Telegraph Hill Neighborhood, Kathy tells me about how much Ferry Hill has meant to her and her family. She is eager to continue supporting Ferry Hill in any way she can and encourages others to do the same in hopes that other families can continue to experience the serenity and beauty of the property for a very long time.
