LIGHTS UP!

MARSHFIELD HIGH SCHOOL, CLASS OF 2020

No doubt that when school was cancelled on Thursday, March 12th the class of 2020 was excited to have an unexpected day off.  However, the very next night their Senior Night Out was cancelled.  Then, two more weeks of school were cancelled. Then team sports, extracurricular activities, spirit week and subsequently the remainder of the entire school year…and hearts all over Marshfield sunk.  While necessary, current restrictions have taken away some of the rights of passage that our kids have dreamt about.

Stacey Emery Walsh, a Marshfield resident, is heartbroken for her son, Michael Walsh.  Walsh explains, “He didn’t know March 12th would be his last day of school.  He never got to say goodbye to his teachers and didn’t know all of the things that would be his last. Last car ride from school, last lunch, last homeroom. It’s MHS tradition to have teachers ‘clap’ out the seniors on the last day of school as a way of saying goodbye, good luck, we love you, and that won’t happen.”

Undeniably, 2020 has been rough for everyone so far, but we are MARSHFIELD, and it’s not over yet!

Once again our town has come together to find a way to celebrate and brighten the path of these seniors.

In an effort to make sure these students know that they are supported, their hard work is recognized, and to show them that we see the bright light inside each and every one of them, we’re lighting the town green

Join us in lighting up our homes and businesses in green and white lights during the week of May 22nd through June 1st!

Help us show these this year’s Grads that their community is here to lift them up.  Help us show them that missed milestones can’t stop them on this journey because they are resilient, they are Marshfield Strong, and their futures are going to be even brighter yet.

Go Green!
