Bouncing 'Round the Room at Yup Sup

I was invited for an exclusive look with Yup Sup Founder Christine Perkett as she was prepping for the launch of her second season in the Marshfield space formerly occupied by The Dispatch. During my visit I was certain I was going to learn some new lingo that accompanied SUP enthusiasts.

Stand Up Paddling, the SUP in Yup Sup was a given. But what was the YUP? It couldn’t be as easy as Yes. Or, could it?

From the outside Yup Sup looks no bigger than a sugar shack or a coastal bait and tackle and as you approach the nose of the building there is a big sign concisely stating;

Paddle Boards • Rentals and Sales • Boutique

When I opened the door to Yup Sup it was as though the building had somehow grown or I had gone remarkably smaller. The put in to my session within the boutique began with a warm greeting from Christine and a permeating notion that I was stepping into a very intentional curating of wares.

The Yup Sup tagline is elementary on the surface, Life + Water = Happy. But the visual merchandising and displays delicately balancing color, function, genre and local artisan flare— power even a local to a newly designed destination.

The three A’s— Art, Accessories and Apparel are focused on community lifestyles. Vignettes framed by zip codes and local towns’ names allow visitors to recover and catch a glimpse of coastal architecture beyond the windows.

The Yup Sup brand extends well beyond the windows into the community.

Outfits are paired with accessories and are very reasonably priced. Convenient to neighbors living in Marshfield, Scituate, Humarock, and Norwell. Perfect for gift giving or grabbing a fresh new look for dinner at Polcari’s Bridgwaye Inn or a night out at The Voyage just a glide across the bridge in Humarock.

With many seasonal options for men as well as women. Yup Sup is always open ONLINE and offers FREE local delivery within 15 miles of the store (choose local delivery online).

I spent the course of my visit with Christine getting to know her and discussing her other two businesses. It was clear her experience and business stance offered her stability in creating a lifestyle brand around her passion for Paddling.

“I personally love stand up paddle boarding and have been doing it for over a decade. It brings positivity to my life: calm, zen, exercise, focus. So I thought why not start a consumer brand that supports and amplifies this positivity and encourages people to get out on the water and be active?” Christine Perkett

Before I wrap this up, maybe you noticed that I have scattered some Paddleboard Lingo through out my story. I hope you will take the time to learn some and try out a session with Yup Sup this coming season.

Which brings me to YUP. Yup is the personification of positivity. The Yup in Yup Sup.
